Shelton Plumbing can make a fix or handle a complete new water heater installation.
Water Heater Repair
There are a few signs besides the shortage of hot water that indicate you may need to have your water heater repaired. Upon visual inspection, do you see a lot of rust or moisture on the tank? Listen closely for the sound of running water or other noises. Take a sniff. Do you notice any odd smells?
Many of these issues can be repaired without investing in a new unit. Call Shelton Plumbing today to schedule a technician.
A leaking water heater is a waste of resources.
A water heater has one job–making water hot. If you have a tradition residential water heater tank, it will also store that hot water.
If your tank is leaking, you are sending your hard earned money down the drain. With the constant refilling of the tank and reheating of water, both your financial and natural resources are being lost.
No hot water? Never again with a Rinnai Tankless Water Heater.

Water Heater Maintenance
Whether you have a new water heater or your current unit is working fine, it is a good idea to perform regular maintenance. Follow the manufacturers’ guidelines. If you don’t have the maintenance manual, you can often find them online.
For conventional tank water heaters, regularly flush out the unit to remove any sediment that may collect in the bottom.
Water heater leaking from bottom? Don’t fret just yet.
If you see water around the bottom of your water heater tank there are a couple of things to check before you throw in the towel for a new one.
WARNING! Before you ever do any work on your water heater, always turn off the water and power to the system.
First, check the drain valve, formally called the T&P valve. This valve regulates temperature and pressure. Make sure it is not leaking around the edge of the valve. A leaky valve is a fairly easy and inexpensive fix.
Second, make sure the tank is not leaking. Water may be running down the tank to the bottom from the top, which could lead to the tank corroding from the inside and time for a new water heater.
Water heater leaking from top.
If you find water on the top of your water heater, you most likely have a leak in one of the water pipe valves.
Check the nuts on the inlet and outlet pipes. Tighten them as needed. If that does not fix the leaking, replace the bad pipe valve.
Shelton Plumbing technicians are outfitted with a large variety of water heater parts to repair your leaks quickly.

These units vary in size but are small enough to hang on a wall out of the way in just about any place you choose. Even outside. This durable water heater will last longer and require less maintenance over the years.
Installation requires an experienced plumber like Shelton Plumbing, especially if you are transitioning from a conventional unit to tankless. We are trained, experienced, fast, and will get it done right.
Consider several tankless water heater installation cost factors.
There are a number of factors to think about when you decide to go tankless.
Make sure you choose the right size water heater. Tankless water heaters are based on their rate of flow so be sure you get the one best for your family size and usage.
Know the energy rating. The more efficient units have a higher number.
How long is the manufacturer’s warranty? It might be worth paying more for a longer warranty period.
Does your state or county utility company offer rebates or tax credits?
Does your plumber have the qualifications to do the tankless water heater installation? With Shelton Plumbing, the answer is YES.

Remember, we have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, emergency service available. This includes service for a malfunctioning water heater.

Gas Water Heater Repair
Gas water heaters operate a bit differently than electric water heaters. They may run on natural gas or LP gas so they have a gas supply line. In addition, they contain a burner with a thermocouple, which controls the gas flow and is usually connected to the control valve on the exterior of the tank.
Any of these parts can be faulty on a gas unit without there being damage to the tank itself.
To be sure your gas water heater is working properly, contact Shelton Plumbing for an inspection.
